My training plans for 2018, Perth and Bangkok
I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and love living in the city. However, for Muay Thai training I have found it beneficial to travel to other states and overseas. Perth and Bangkok are currently booked in for January 2018.
I previously wrote about how Perth is one of the Muay Thai capitals of Australia. I will be spending time training there before I head to Bangkok. I know that the training in Bangkok will be intense, so my focus in Perth will be to get my body and fitness ready for the twice-a-day Thai training.
The aim is to learn as much as I can from a technical perspective while in Bangkok. If your fitness is lacking, you won’t be able to get as much out of it as you struggle to keep up.
I have been able to maintain a decent level of fitness while in Melbourne. But with my modelling and other work commitments I don’t often get to train as often as I would like. The best thing about training away from home is that there are no distractions. Training will be my number one priority.
Training in the heat
Melbourne has a relatively dry climate so it’s always a shock to the system landing in Thailand with the humidity. On past trips, I have made the mistake of neglecting hydration. The amount of sweating that you endure when training twice a day isn’t trivial. Something I will be taking with me this time is an electrolyte powder to add to my water bottle. I’ve been using Swift High Performance Supplements’ HydraCharge recently so will take that with me.
I plan to share as much of the training as I can on my new YouTube channel, so you can tune in if you’re interested.
